This is a scarce WW1 cast brass cap badge to the IMPERIAL CAMEL CORPS in excellent worn condition complete with both fixing lugs. The badge measures 42mm by 31mm.
Initially formed in January 1916 with four companies, expanded to a brigade in December 1916 with 3,380 men and 3,880 camels organized in four battalions (one British, two Australian, and one of New Zealanders). As part of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force, the ICC served in campaigns against the Ottoman Turks in Sinai, Palestine, and Transjordan in 1917-18. Two ICC companies served with T.E. Lawrence during the Arab Revolt, and conducted operations to sabotage the Hejaz rail line. Disbanded in May 1919.
